Overview


TINKRR rewards real learning habits — not screen time — with badges and challenges. Badges celebrate skills like reasoning, spelling, curiosity, and consistency. Challenges give kids clear weekly and monthly goals tied to those badges.

Badges are designed to motivate without encouraging shortcuts. They come from genuine chat activity: asking follow-up questions, explaining ideas in your own words, and showing up on learning days.
Which plans include badges?
The full badge belt and challenges require Family plan or above on the child owner’s account (the parent who created the child).
What is the badge belt?Each child has a personal badge belt — a collection of earned badges with artwork, names, and short taglines.
  • Earned badges appear unlocked on the belt forever.
  • Not yet earned badges show as locked previews so kids can see what they’re working toward.
  • Kids view their belt at Badges in the child app.
  • Parents see every child’s belt and progress at Dashboard →

    These badges are earned by completing weekly or monthly 

    challenges.

    Challenge rotation:

    Challenges rotate automatically. Badge types your child recently earned are avoided for about 8 weeks, so they see fresh goals over time.

    Age-based targetsTargets adapt to the child’s age tier:
    • Young (ages 7–9) — lower thresholds
    • Middle (ages 10–12) — moderate thresholds
    • Teen (ages 13–18) — higher thresholds
    For example, a teen may need a higher reasoning or spelling score than a 7-year-old to complete the same type of challenge.
    How progress is counted
    • Progress is tracked per calendar day in the parent’s timezone (the child owner’s timezone for owned children).
    • A learning day is a day when the child chats with meaningful activity.
    • A challenge completes when the child hits the target on enough learning days in that week or month.
    When a challenge completes
    1. The matching badge is added to the child’s belt permanently.
    2. The parent may receive an email if Individual quest completed notifications are enabled under Settings → Notifications.
    Live score badges in chat (all plans). On Free and Explorer, kids still see live reasoning and spelling score badges in chat during the day. These reflect current session performance but are not part of the full badge belt or weekly/monthly challenge system.
    Celebrating awards: printing badges. Kids can celebrate earned badges by asking a parent to print them.
    How it works:
    1. On the badge belt, the child taps Ask parent to print on an earned badge.
    2. The parent receives an email with a print-ready link.
    3. Opening the link shows a formatted badge page and opens the browser print dialog.
    4. Parents can also use the Print badge button on that page.
    Troubleshooting print emails:
    • Check spam/junk folders.
    • Confirm Individual quest completed notifications are on in Settings → Notifications.
    • Make sure the child is asking to print an earned badge, not a locked one.

    Leaderboards (Family plan and above)Family plans also include leaderboards:
    • Private family leaderboard — ranks learners in your household by badges, reasoning, spelling, and quest progress.
    • Optional public family leaderboard — share your family’s progress publicly (opt-in).
    • Shareable brag cards — celebrate milestones with a link you can share.
    Configure these under Dashboard → Settings → Leaderboards.
    Common questionsWhy doesn’t my child have challenges?
    The full badge belt and challenges require Family, Family+, or Household on the child owner’s plan. Free and Explorer only show live scores in chat.
    Do badges expire?
    No. Once earned, a badge stays on the belt permanently.
    Can I turn off badge emails?
    Yes. Go to Settings → Notifications and adjust Individual quest completed and Family quest completed settings.
