Shared Children

Overview

Shared children let you invite another parent to view or help with one specific child — without giving them access to your whole account or your other children.

Use cases include:

• Co-parents in separate households
• A grandparent who helps with homework check-ins
• Another caregiver who needs visibility or day-to-day controls

You can invite up to 2 shared parents per child.
Plan requirements:

Example: You’re on Family with 2 owned children (your plan max). You can still add shared children from other households — they don’t use your owned-child slots.
Share codes

Format

Share codes look like: TP-XXX-XXX

Example: TP-R2P-4A7

• Uppercase letters and digits

Generating a code (owner only)

1. Go to Settings → Children
2. Select your owned child
3. Open Shared access
4. Tap Generate share code
5. Choose View or Edit as the permission level for this code

Important rules

• Codes expire after 48 hours
• Each code works once
• You must share both the code and the child’s kid username with the other parent — username is required to redeem

How the other parent joins

From settings (anytime)

1. Sign in as a parent
2. Go to Settings → Children
3. Choose Add shared child
4. Enter the kid username and share code

During onboardingOn the Add children step, you’ll see two options side by side:

• Create a child account — add your own child
• Add a shared child — redeem a share code

One owned OR shared child is enough to continue onboarding setup.
View vs Edit accessWhen you generate a code, you choose the permission level. You can also change a sharer’s level later (owner only).
Permission comparison:

Shared View

Best for a co-parent or caregiver who needs visibility and communication but not account controls.

They can:

• Read chat logs and see alerts
• View metrics and activity
• Message the child from the dashboard

They cannot:

• Change limits, suspend the child, or edit profile/password
• Manage sharing settings

Shared Edit

Best for a co-parent or caregiver who helps with day-to-day management.

They can do everything Shared View can, plus:

• Suspend or unsuspend the child
• Adjust daily time limits
• Reset limits and respond to more-time requests
• Manage uploads

They still cannot:

• Change the child’s profile, password, or username
• Generate share codes or revoke other sharers

Only the child owner controls profile, password, and sharing.
Managing shared access (owner only)From Settings → Children → [your child] → Shared access, the owner can:

• See all active sharers
• Switch a sharer between View and Edit
• Revoke access
• Generate new codes (after revoking or when a code expires)

Maximum 2 active shared parents per child. Revoke one to invite someone else.
Other important rules

Timezone

Shared parents always see chat logs and day boundaries in the child owner’s timezone — not their own.
Notifications
Safety and transactional alert emails go to the owner and active shared parents (when notifications are enabled on their accounts).
Mixed households
A parent can own some children and share others on the same account.
Leaving or revoking

• Shared parents can tap Leave share on the child card
• The owner can revoke access anytime from Shared access

Plan limits
Shared children never count toward the invitee’s owned-child plan limit.
Step-by-step: sharing with a co-parentParent A (owner)

1. Confirm you’re on Explorer or above
2. Settings → Children → select child → Shared access
3. Generate code (View or Edit)
4. Send code + kid username to Parent B within 48 hours

Parent B (invited)

1. Sign in to TINKRR
2. Settings → Children → Add shared child
3. Enter username + code
4. Child appears on your dashboard with a “shared” indicator

Common questionsCan I share all my children with one code?
No. Each share code is for one child. Generate a separate code per child.
Does the invited parent need Explorer?
No. Only the child owner needs Explorer+ to generate codes.
Can shared parents message the child?
Yes. Both View and Edit access include messaging from the dashboard.
What happens when a code expires?
Generate a new code from Shared access and share it again.
I’m at my plan’s child limit. Can I still add a shared child?
Yes. Shared children don’t use owned-child slots.
